ANGEL (8/2/11)

ANGEL is what we call her.
no other word-no other name-
could begin to describe how hard she must fight.
she fights for what others take for granted.

ANGEL is her calling.
she's small and beautiful
and nobody could ever take away her shining smile.
not even her life-threatening diseases.

ANGEL is what she is.
she walks among the broken.
how lucky we are to have such a picture perfect image
of innocence in a true child.

she is an ANGEL because
she fights without fists.

she is an ANGEL because
she lives without bitterness.

she is an ANGEL because
she loves without expectations.

HoPE is on the way, sweet ANGEL.

For my mommy About my grandfather (6/16/11)

As you guys drifted
apart from each other, she
beat herself up for

not being enough
of a good daughter for you.
It killed her inside.

After all these years
and she's still a daddy's girl.
But now its too late.

So now I ask you,
what were you thinking about
as your last breath slipped

from your pale lips?
Did you see her in the back
of your mind? Did you

weep as you realized
you won't see her anymore?
How about when you

knew she couldn't call?
Even in death, were you cold
and heartless? She cried

for you. Several years
of pain now bubbling up.
I wish you could see

the kind of woman
you raised. But you won't ever
see it and that's your

loss. So many have
suffered from the issues you
caused in her lifetime:

mistrust, caution, and
insecurity. How can
a parent push their

child away as
you did so easily? One
thing I will always

do is show her that
you made a lethal mistake.
I'm sorry you had

to leave, but one day
she will know it was you know
made this happen. It

hurts her right now to
have to bear this burden, but
she'll be strong again.

Dearest Friend: Haiku/Letter (6/16/11)

To my dearest friend,
You've been there through everything.
Sometimes I wonder

how I was lucky
enough to find you out there.
I know through thick and

thin, you'll support me.
I don't always know hot to

show my gratitude.

But here are my words
to you: Thanks for all of our
terribly great times!

The Boy That Lived (6/16/11)

seven epic books
take him through adolescence
make Rowling a star
Dumbledore taught him
Professor Snape hated him
Harry Potter was famous
he's the Number One
Undesirable-bad guys
want to capture him
waving magic wands
avoiding Lord Voldemort
its hard to be him
Harry Potter lives
with a lightning bolt-shaped scar
that rests on his face
he's the boy who lived
orphaned as a small child
he's legendary

The Words That Hide Me (6/15/11)

The heart asks for what
the eye catches. But what if
you're too scared to act?

We want to spend time
together. But we share words.
This is all we give.

As we plan to meet
again, the butterflies start
fluttering wildly.

Its true that you make
me nervous, which is why I
hide behind my words.

I promise someday
I will come out from behind
the words that hide me.

The end of high school (6/15/11)

High school
       seems to have gone by in such a blur;
where did those three years go?
One moment,
you're having a blast with your friends
cheering at your first football game.
The next,
you're walking across a stage to the sound
of your future calling your name.
You think
your parents know nothing, yet you
       depend on their caretaking abilities.
High school
is the last four years of a true childhood,
so why not take a few chances?
Live it
       up while you can.
You only
have one life to live...and this is no rehearsal.

Love Haikus (6/15/11)

take a chance on love
let go of pain and anger
make up for lost time

kiss my lips softly
whisper promises til dusk
hold me in your arms

love's a fairytale;
not one everybody gets.
that's fine, i have you.

as thunder trembles
you kiss her forehead goodnight
trace her inner thigh
