My First try @ a Tanka (5/16/11)

Emotions run deep

Love can cut off all reason

Greed blinds the naive

        Hatred may darken blue skies

        And yet we live for each one

Raindrops fall from eyes

        Waves tear open rugged hearts

Winds whisper love songs

        Echoes cry from mountaintops

        "All I can think of is you"

Soldiers defend us,

they die for us to live free.

        Soldiers, broken for us,

mourn for their fallen brothers

as we continue our days.

Haikus (5/12/11)

Some nights I listen
to the thunder as I drift
towards an endless sleep.

Tonight I listen

to the thunder as I drift 

to eternal rest.

Little fireflies

dance and glow as the night grows

old and retires

All wishful dreamers

give in to their tomorrows

kiss today goodbye

Someone who HATES high school (5/11/11)

High school
        is all about kissing ass and simply
        waiting for the next teenage tragedy.
For me,
        its about partying til the sun comes
        up (or the cops arrive). Coming home
with another
        hangover because I honestly don't
        give a shit. Who cares, anyway?
For me,
        its about finding comfort in the
        first open arms I can spot and
hopefully then,
        I can feel needed. Yet, by the
        time I leave, I'm lonely again.
For me,
        its about finding redemption.
For others,
        its about lives caving in.

Someone who LOVES high school (5/11/11)

High school

        can begin with a simple notion:

        a crush, an A on a test, a car.

For me,

        it starts with a kiss and

        molds into a relationship

that talks

        on the phone all night when

        the rest of the world is quiet.

For me,

        it begins with good grades

        because I dream big:

of college,

        a happy career, to live in

        my own comfortable place.

For me,

        it begins with high school.

For others,

        this is where it all ends.
